Day 1
Arrival at airport and transfer to Munnar by a chauffeur driven car.
Munnar : This is a hill station in the Western Ghats, above 4500 feet from sea level, known among the best hill stations of Kerala. It is one of the major centre for Kerala's tea industry. The name Munnar means three rivers and this misty town is located at the confluence of 3 mountain streams - Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. Munnar is also known for its lakes, forests and tea estates, among which Tata Tea hold major portion of it. Anaimudi, the highest peak in South India (2695 m/8883 ft.) is located near to this destination. Munnar was once the British Government's Summer Camp and it has been the favorite summer destination for the European sellers for centuries.
Major sightseeing attractions in Munnar are the Kundale tea plantation, Eravikulam National Park, The High Range Club, Top Station, Mattuppetty, Devikulam, Rajamalai, Chithirapuram, Marayoor, Pallivasal/Pothamedu, etc.
Day 2
After check out from Munnar, proceed by the same chauffeur drive car to Kumarakom, the backwater destination of Kerala. Upon arrival check into hotel.
Kumarakom: The queen of Vembanad is a backwater destination of India. Kumarakom, a small village on the edge of Vembanad Lake was an unknown destination unexplored till "Henry Baker" purchased a land from the erstwhile King of Travancore to build bunglow for himself.
Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, a paradise for migratory birds from all across the globe is a must-visit marvelous with its end number of beautiful rivulets and waterways. The picturesque Vembanad Lake is one of the limited destinations in India surrounded by mangrove forests and paddy fields, which is located below sea level. Moreover, it is claimed to be the best places for bird viewing inside the sanctuary. A large population of bird species are found due to its pleasant climatic condition, make it a great picnic spot. Kumarakom is a great destination and a houseboat cruise is a must-do activity, for those who visit this backwater destination. A boat cruise on the beautiful Vembanad lake is one of the best ways to enjoy birdwatching in the park. One can also enjoy wildlife photography at Pathiramanal - a small island on the lake. A little ahead of Kumarakom, you can visit the backwater town of Kottayam - packed with rubber plantations and majestic old churches.
